Excel Functions Mid , Left and Right

These functions can be used to get parts of other cells to use elsewhere in your spreadsheet . You can chose to get a certain numbers of characters from the left or right of another cell .
to put  the 10 leftmost characters of  cell  B1  in cell A1 type in A1 =left(b1,10)
to put  the 10 rightmost characters of  cell  B2  in cell A2 type in A2 =right(b2,10)
to put  the 11th to 20th charachters  of  cell  B3  in cell  A3 type in A2 =mid(B3,11,10)

The LEFT  and RIGHT functions  only require one parameter  while the MID formula asks for a starting character  and how may characters from that start point you wish to extract  as per below example
